Hum was a product designed to disrupt email with collaboration. It organizes conversation into threads, lets you drop work requests into each others’ feeds, and syncs everything across your devices. Hum was focused on real-time conversation and presence.
I first came up with the idea for HUM while working full-time at Obvious Corp helping launch Medium.com. We were using several different applications to chat (before Slack) and I saw a strong opportunity to create something new that also worked with everyones email.
HUM got accepted into Y-Combinator summer of 2013 and raised $120K. We regretfully stopped working on it when Slack was announced.
